Canada prides itself on values of diversity and benefits from our country's cultural harmony. When integrating newcomers with older generations, challenges often surface when traditions and values conflict. Stereotypes are often expressed.

What are the stereotypes?

Are people sensitive enough to know the consequences of living with stereotypes, either as people imposing the beliefs or as the recipients of the perceptions?
Do the stereotypes hinder our progression of moving forward as a civilization?

Taiwan, an island nation, has its share of stereotypes due to the complexity of its history. The influxes of various cultures have not only impacted the formation of the new culture, but have also become the foundation of new expressions in arts. The dilemma between preserving or abandoning traditions have given the innovative minds from Taiwan nutrients and motivation to succeed. It's time for the world to see Taiwan with an open mind – a cultural phenomenon – Taiwan Rising.

What are your stereotypes about Taiwan?
Are you ready to be challenged?
